dance:
classical ballet & Argentine tango
Personal Experience
Tara began her study of classical ballet at the age of 3. She progressed through the Royal Academy of Dance graded and vocational examinations, passing the Advanced Foundation examination and studying the syllabus through Advanced 2. She danced for two summers in the San Jose Cleveland Ballet intensive program and performed as a company trainee with the Peninsula Ballet Theatre, both in California.
As an undergraduate at Stanford University, Tara minored in dance, pursuing studio classes in ballet, social, modern, postmodern, and cultural dance, both on the Stanford campus and when studying abroad in Paris. She also took full courses in choreography, Feldenkrais, Pilates, dance theory, dance history, and stagecraft.
To complement her continued training and performing in classical ballet, Tara began studying Argentine tango in 2012.
Teaching
Tara has taught classical ballet since 2006 for students of all ages and all levels, and in 2017 she began teaching Argentine tango for beginning and intermediate adults. Her classes incorporate alignment, body mechanics, and attention to breath with musicality and self-expression, helping students build fundamental understanding of each discipline's structures.
