As with my previous projects for this course, my instructional objective in creating this module was to prepare informal educators to facilitate programs that consistently support the Next Generation Science Standards.

This module supports the objective in two ways. First, it offers NGSS 101, with both a brief discussion of the reasoning behind the development of the standards and also a series of interactive learning blocks that present and reinforce the three dimensions of NGSS. Second, it shows direct examples of the application of NGSS in informal education contexts, including a cultural history site, an art museum, and an open space preserve -- contexts which are not necessarily the first places to come to mind when thinking about science education.
